Job Description
PURPOSE: The Planner Buyer is responsible for planning and scheduling of received orders in the company’s ERP system in accordance to the output of the PO review to the agreed timeframes. The Planner Buyer is responsible for the procurement functions directly associated with the company’s needs for production materials to the agreed lead time in the Purchase Order (PO) review. The Planner Buyer is additionally responsible for the procurement of indirect materials and services, and fixed assets and tooling. All purchases are to be secured at cost quality and at delivery competitive levels consistent with company policy, industry and performance standards. The Planner Buyer works directly with the management team and Operations Lead to meet company deadlines, KPI’s, QMS objectives and is accountable for the Customer On Time Delivery metric and its performance. This position is also responsible for a comprehensive capacity of the fabrication department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible through support of the Fabrication lead to maintain a comprehensive fabrication capacity to the function level.
- Participate in the PO review by providing current fabrication capacity, and the working days required to complete the planning and purchasing functions of the job.
- Enter the job into the ERP system and thus creating the job routers, work tickets, and purchase orders that need to be placed in the time frame agreed during the PO review.
- Responsible for timely and accurate placement of purchase orders in accordance to dates agreed during the PO review – meeting the material cost center’s sales goals.
- Follows up with suppliers to confirm purchase order placement and agreed delivery dates.
- Maintains accurate records and organization during procurement activities.
- Tracks delivery of all purchased material and provides status via daily status meeting.
- Maintains objective external supplier data for the external provider quality metric to include significant cost variations, quality and schedule performance to assess, build and improve supply chain performance.
- Works with the leadership team to determine and apply criteria for the evaluation, selection, monitoring of performance and re-evaluation of external providers/supply chain based on their ability to provide processes or products and services in accordance with customer requirements.
- Retains documented information of external providers’ criteria to meet customer requirements.
- Owns the Customer OTD (On Time to Promise) Quality Objective Metric
- Champions supply chain and operations metrics. Drives improvements to the performance of the processes that are measured.
- Proactively identifies and resolves any obstacles to plans to ensure execution and minimization of risks in customer service and sales goals.
- Collaborates and participates in overall business system roll-outs, changes and improvement projects.

SKILL REQUIREMENT:
- Direct experience negotiating/purchasing raw material and finished goods in a manufacturing environment.
- Microsoft Office and ERP purchasing, planning, and sales order module experience
- A professional, pleasant, cooperative personality that helps co-workers and external providers achieve great results.
- Able to comprehend engineering drawings well enough to know what machining, coating, and finishing process are required to meet the defined specification in order to create job routings and work tickets.
- Highly organized, with neat and detailed orientated ability to control and maintain data within an ERP system.
- Good oral and written communication skills (English)
- Understanding of ITAR, DFARS, and other customer regulations
- Good oral and written communication skills (English)
- Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 QMS programs in manufacturing environment
- Problem Solving abilities; detailed and thorough approach to identifying problems; understanding corrective actions.
- Proficient and Microsoft Word, Excel, and creating flow charts.
- Ability to pick up 50lbs
- Must be a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident
This is a full time, hourly position. Full time employees are eligible for medical benefits after 60 days of employment and dental, long term disability and life insurance after 90 days of employment. Also available after 90 days of employment is a Simple IRA program with percentage match contributions and seven paid holidays.

Pay: From $35,000.00 per year
