CNC Machinist – Lathe


Bent River Machine is seeking an experienced, self-motivated CNC Machinist that has a foundation in lathe experience.

This position is responsible for setup and operation of CNC lathe machines.

Also, to troubleshoot tooling/setup issues and quality issues in order to meet customer requirements.


  • Read and interpret prints, routings and related documents to produce in-tolerance parts that meet design specifications
  • Set-up and operate all jobs routed to the assigned machines with no assistance and meet production deadlines
  • Communicate equipment or tooling issues to supervisor in order to ensure production schedules will be met
  • Understanding GD&T geometric dimensions and tolerance for defining engineering tolerances
  • Select proper tooling, fixtures, machining accessories, feeds & speeds, off-sets, & program parts when required
  • Inspect component parts to print using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, plug gauges, comparator, etc. throughout the process.
  • Complete required records and time scan-in and scan-out of billable jobs
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on assigned machines, and maintain proper coolant levels/concentrations daily
  • Assist and participate in continuous improvements
  • Adhere to company safety requirements
  • Comply with company ISO/Quality Management System requirements
  • Work as a team to meet operational quality objectives and metrics: on time to promise, quality, product yield, and hours completed

  • 5 Years minimum experience as a CNC Machinist
  • Self-motivated, reliable and capable of working with minimal supervision on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Great problem solving skills and the ability to handle simultaneous projects
  • Process planning experience including shop routings, set-up sheets, tool lists, bills of material, assembly instructions and process sequences
  • Knowledge in assembly, machining, good machining practices, feeds and speeds, ability to read and understand drawings, quality control and safety.
  • Experience working in a lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environment
  • CNC experience is required
  • Must be able to lift 75lbs
  • Must be a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident

This is a full time, hourly position. Full time employees are eligible for benefits after 60 days of employment. This includes health insurance, dental insurance, long term disability, Simple IRA program with percentage match contributions, paid holidays.
